At SIHRA, French workwear brand MOLINEL, renowned in the hotel and restaurant industry, unveiled a preview of its first model co-created in partnership with a Michelin-starred chef: the new ORIGINE MOLINEL x Nicolas GAUTIER chef's jacket. The project had been simmering for some time at MOLINEL, which was keen to find “THE” right ambassador who would share its core values of knowledge transfer, local and sustainable expertise, passion for the profession, and innovation.
Chefs dreamed it... MOLINEL made it happen! This limited edition model is manufactured in Roubaix, in the Hauts-de-France region. The sustainable materials are also sourced locally. The stretch fabric, which is made from recycled polyester (35%), Fairtrade organic cotton (35%) and stretch (30%), is produced in Belgium, 65 km from MOLINEL's headquarters in Frelinghien. The double-sided honeycomb mesh comes from the Vosges region.
The ORIGINE MOLINEL x Nicolas GAUTIER chef's jacket combines the traditional chef's jacket style with unprecedented comfort. The mesh and stretch fabrics make it lightweight and allow for optimal freedom of movement. Refined, it is the perfect combination of a revisited classic look, renowned technical fabrics, and the latest high-end trends. It is available in two versions, for men and women.
The MOLINEL team met Nicolas GAUTIER at his gourmet restaurant Nature, in the center of Armentières in northern France, 5 km from MOLINEL's headquarters. It is a family-friendly place that combines tradition and modernity, a vision that MOLINEL strives to convey in its collections.
ORIGINE, a name that echoes the philosophy of Nicolas GAUTIER and MOLINEL: a commitment to the origin of raw materials, an attraction to their region of origin in Hauts-de-France, and a priority given to faithful and original transmission. The packaging chosen is also a nod to the name ORIGINE. A kraft box and a silk sheet covering the jacket, both made from plant-based materials.
Sketch after sketch, the trend board at the MOLINEL design office took shape, bringing to life an elegant and ultra-comfortable chef's jacket design.
Style rhymes with subtlety! The handmade ball buttons, reversible bib, and musketeer cuffs, essential features of the Grand Chef jacket, have been retained. The cut is tailored for a modern look without compromising on comfort, thanks to an eco-friendly stretch fabric. The MOLINEL embroidery and ribbon on the back of the collar feature the French tricolor to highlight the Made in France design and manufacture. It's also a nod to French gastronomy!
The chef's well-being throughout the day also depends on details that make all the difference. Inside the collar, double-sided honeycomb mesh and quilted padding are used for maximum comfort. Offset seams on the sides of the garment prevent irritation and ensure freedom of movement. Thermoregulatory and antibacterial mesh inserts at the shoulders, back, and underarms optimize the jacket's breathability. No more overheating! The jacket is practical and can be washed at high temperatures (60°C) to remove all stains and keep it looking impeccable.
